The village of Khinalig has been declared one of the “Best Tourism Villages” by the World Tourism Organization (UN Tourism).
The “Best Tourism Villages 2025” award ceremony and the third annual network meeting were held in Huzhou, China, organized by UN Tourism.

According to the State Tourism Agency, the event aimed to announce the names of villages that have made significant contributions to the development of rural tourism, set an example in the fields of sustainability and cultural heritage preservation, and to bring together representatives of recognized villages under this program to exchange experiences and discuss future directions.

Khinalig village was nominated by Azerbaijan for the “Best Tourism Villages” competition of the World Tourism Organization. The main goal of this initiative is to highlight the best examples of tourism development in rural areas and to identify villages that have preserved their uniqueness and cultural-historical heritage over the years while also meeting the requirements of modern tourism.
